We are seeking a motivated and clinically skilled Salaried GP to join our team, delivering same day urgent care to patients across our Eccles and Irlam sites. This is an excellent opportunity for a GP with a broad clinical background, comfortable working across the interface of primary and urgent care.
Each session consists of 14 appointments, with patients presenting across a wide range of same day urgent care needs - from minor illness and injury through to more complex undifferentiated presentations. You will work as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, with strong clinical leadership and a clear focus on patient safety and quality care.
Main duties of the job
* Provide safe, effective, and timely clinical assessment and management for patients presenting with same day urgent care needs across primary and urgent care settings
* Manage a caseload of 14 appointments per session, working confidently and efficiently across a broad range of clinical presentations
* Work within, and contribute to, the wider EPiC 24 multidisciplinary team, supporting a joined-up approach to patient care
* Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in line with professional standards and SPCT policies
* Prescribe in accordance with current guidance, ensuring safe and appropriate medicines management
* Escalate clinical concerns appropriately and support safe patient pathways, including onward referral, admission, and signposting to community services
* Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activity as required
* Uphold the values of SPCT and the NHS, delivering care that is compassionate, inclusive, and patient centred

Our EPiC 24 service is at the heart of Salford's urgent care offer, providing joined-up, responsive care to patients who need it most. The service spans our Urgent Treatment Centres (UTC), out-of-hours provision, and the Pathfinder/Single Point of Access (SPoA) function - operating around the clock to ensure patients are seen by the right clinician, at the right time, in the right place.
Job responsibilities
Contract Type: Fixed Term - to 31 March 2027
Sessions: 24 sessions per week (with options for additional sessions to meet service demand)
Appointment Model: 14 appointments per session same day urgent care
Location: Based between Eccles and Irlam
Salary: Dependent on experience

Qualifications
* Fully qualified GP with current GMC registration and a license to practice
* Inclusion on, or eligible for inclusion on, the NHS England Performers List
* Broad clinical experience across primary care, with the confidence to assess and manage a wide range of same day urgent presentations
* Ability to manage a high volume of undifferentiated presentations safely and efficiently
* Excellent communication skills with patients, carers, and colleagues
* Commitment to clinical governance, patient safety, and continuous professional development
* Up-to-date with mandatory and statutory training requirements
* Experience working in an urgent treatment centre, out of hours, walk-in centre, or equivalent urgent care environment
* Familiarity with EMIS Web or other primary care clinical systems
* Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team model
* Interest in service development and quality improvement
