Senior Logistics Manager- Henderson Foodservice Ltd. Attractive Salary, Benefits, Company Car & Bonus Full-Time, 5 Days per week Who are we? The Company sources and supplies a range of over 6,500 products to 4,500 customers across 11 sectors including hotels, public sector offices and hospitals. Today, our team of over 500 colleagues co-ordinate deliveries six days a week from four distribution centres to customers across the Island of Ireland, which contributed to HFLs 2024 revenue of almost £250m. A look into the role Following another year of record growth, and to support our ambitious future plans, we are seeking to appoint a Senior Logistics Manager who will lead and optimise the organisations warehousing and transport operations, ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant movement and storage of food products across the Island of Ireland. This role will drive operational excellence, cost-effectiveness, and service quality across the logistics function while supporting the business growth objectives and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and customer satisfaction. It will also manage the commercial development of our core operations through diversificationof services. Our central distribution and transport operation is based in Mallusk Co. Antrim, and we are currently extending a number of other logistics facilities in Co. Down, Co. Fermanagh & Dublin, as a result of our continued expansion. This role will be very well suited to a candidate who is an experienced Logistics Manager and has a strong knowledge of industry legislative requirements. The ideal candidate will lead at a strategic level, and will therefore be forward thinking, innovative and highly effective in leading team success. As Senior Logistics Manager, you will: Provide leadership and management to the warehousing and logistics functions within Henderson Foodservice across the Island of Ireland, with direct responsibility for the Foodservice and Retail Frozen business. Manage the commercial development of core operations through diversification, including: Oversight of existing 3PL contracts (e.g., M&S via GIST). Implementation of backhauling opportunities, where advantageous for suppliers. Identification and delivery of new diversification initiatives. Develop and manage the Business Continuity and Resilience Program for HFL Logistics. Lead infrastructure development planning for warehousing and logistics facilities to meet future capacity and operational needs, leading integration strategies for new capabilities and capacity as required. Oversee the management of all vehicle fleets, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and reliability. Manage the Facilities function in conjunction with the Group Facilities Manager, including security, maintenance, and operational readiness. Lead responsible practices within warehousing and transport operations to support sustainability goals, including waste reduction, packaging optimisation, energy efficiency, and fuel reduction. Monitor and report sustainability KPIs, ensuring progress towards environmental and ESG commitments. Drive the development of end-to-end supply chain innovations to improve service, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency. Engage proactively with national and local government, as well as trade partners, to understand and influence emerging logistics legislation. Oversee the procurement, development, and optimisation of logistics management systems (WMS, TMS, and related technologies). Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, BRC) and road transport legislation. Foster close collaboration with procurement, sales, and customer service teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment and customer satisfaction. Manage relationships with key logistics partners, suppliers, and contractors to ensure high-quality service and performance. Skills for Success Joining us as Senior Logistics Manager, the minimum criteria youll need is: Good standard of general education, including GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent). Considerable experience in leading a large food logistics function, with a strong focus on short journeys and short lead-time operations. Proven track record (minimum 5 years) in logistics management with responsibility for both warehousing and transport. Experience within food service, FMCG, or other temperature-controlled/fast-moving product environments. Proven success in implementing operational improvements and delivering cost savings. Significant experience in negotiating with and managing relationships with Trade Union representatives. Experience managing large teams, ideally across multiple sites. Strong understanding of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, BRC, ISO 22000) and warehouse/transport compliance requirements. In-depth knowledge of road transport legislation and best practices. Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS), transport management systems (TMS), and MS Office Suite. Strong commercial acumen with proven ability to set and achieve budgets and targets. Proficient in the use of IT (MS Office Suite). Full and Valid driving License Willingness to travel across the Island of Ireland and occasional travel outside NI/ ROI as required. The Attributes youll need include: Strong leadership and people management skills with a clear record of success in building high-performing teams and collaborating effectively with others. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders at all levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating understanding of the perspectives and needs of the audience. Strong commercial acumen with flair for identifying profitable diversification opportunities that build on the teams skill set. Excellent planning, organization and problem-solving abilities. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and act on operational data. Although not essential, it would be desirable if you have: Degree level qualification in a relevant subject and/ orPostgraduate Qualification in a relevant subject. Membership of relevant professional body. Experience of leading Facilities and Site Services teams across a multi-site estate. A track record ofsuccessfully developing and/or operating successful commercial arrangements with external parties. Previous experience of representing and promoting the interests of a company in liaison with external forums, senior government officials and trade partners on company matters. Track record of developing responsible and sustainable logistics solutions and practices. Previous recordof working within a team to identify and obtain infrastructure solutions, including selection and implementation of new warehousing, transport or supply chain systems.
