Position: Working Supervisor to a Groundworks gang Project: Major Infrastructure Scheme AWE Aldermaston Contractor: Tier 1 Principal Contractor Location: AWE Aldermaston, Berkshire, RG7 4PR (secure nuclear-licensed site) Duration: Up to 12 months (strong potential for extension) Start Date: Immediate / ASAP Working Hours: Monday to Friday: 07:30 18:00 (10 hours paid per day) Saturday working available at overtime rates (premium rates apply) 56 day working week as required by programme Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Groundworks Supervisor to work and supervise a Groundworks gang on a long-term infrastructure project at AWE Aldermaston. The primary scope involves the excavation of approximately 800 mm deep service trenches, installation of multi-utility cables, and subsequent backfill and reinstatement works. You will operate modern 1320 tonne 360 excavators in a live construction environment with strict quality, safety, and security standards. Key Responsibilities Safely excavate 800 mm deep trenches to exact line and level Install and bed multi-utility cables, ducts, and associated infrastructure Work in accordance with method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-dig systems Maintain high standards of housekeeping and environmental compliance on a nuclear-licensed site Communicate effectively with site managers, banksmen, and cable installation teams Adhere to all AWE site security, safety standards Essential Requirements SSSTS and CSCS Previous experience as a Groundworks working supervisor Full UK driving licence Ability to pass AWE security vetting (BPSS minimum; higher clearance may be required process supported by employer) Previous experience working on secure, regulated, or MOD/AWE sites is highly advantageous SSSTS or SMSTS (for potential chargehand progression) Experience with 800 mm deep trenching and cable laying What We Offer Competitive hourly rate Saturday overtime (premium rates) 10 paid hours per day MonFri Long-term continuity (12 months extensions) Tier 1 contractor benefits package (pension, holiday pay, overtime, possible bonus scheme) Full induction, site-specific training, and PPE provided Opportunity to work on one of the UKs most secure and technically challenging sites To Apply Please send your CV, copy of CSCS card, and availability.
