Join to apply for the Lead Mechanical Fitter/Engineer role at Equans UK & Ireland. This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Role and contract
EQUANS is looking for a Lead Mechanical Fitter/Engineer to work on our Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital contract.

Responsibilities

* Carry out maintenance, repairs and inspection of mechanical building services in accordance with relevant standards, procedures, legislation and guidance.
* Represent the team in a respectful and professional manner.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical and related building services in line with the PPM programme and required competence.
* Respond to ad-hoc breakdown requests in a timely manner as identified by supervisor/manager or per site contract.
* Assist in installation work involved in minor upgrades and adaptations.
* Assist in systematic fault finding on malfunctioning equipment.
* Work safely under statutory and company guidelines; use all access equipment and tools in accordance with health and safety and manufacturers’ guidelines.
* Maintain appropriate records (written or electronic).
* Be willing to assist and work flexibly with other trades/colleagues.
* After a qualifying period, participate in the on-call/standby rota.
* Liaise with Wards and Departments to minimise disruption while carrying out work.
* Undertake training to learn other skills and maintain service requirements.
* Carry out risk assessments on-site as instructed by supervisor/manager.
* Collaborate with partners and colleagues to deliver a customer-focused service.
* Use initiative to make appropriate decisions, including out-of-hours work.
* Complete all required job cards and related paperwork to the required standard and complete work within timeframes.
* Carry out any other tasks commensurate with the role.


Additional Skills

* Technical issues with steam boilers and related equipment.
* Technical advice and problem solving on water systems and heating issues.
* Laundry/lifecycle planning, input.


Impact

The Maintenance Engineer carries out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across the healthcare estate, meeting statutory and contractual obligations while delivering excellent service to customers. The role contributes to the effective operation of the estate and extends the lifecycle of vital equipment on the contract.


Qualifications or Required Experience

* Previously worked within a maintenance environment.
* NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance Services or equivalent.
* Experience working on or with AHUs, FCUs, LTHW, pumps, pipework, valves, chilled and portable water systems and water hygiene systems.
* Pipe fitting experience (desirable).
* PPM & reactive work.
* Authorised Person Mechanical Systems.
* Worked on steam systems (desirable).
* Work on plumbing systems.
