Autism Plus is a leading Yorkshire charity supporting adults and young people with autism, learning disabilities, mental health conditions and complex needs. We employ over 350 people across the north of England in care support services, employment support and social enterprise businesses.
About the Role: Female-Only Support Worker
Shifts: 20 hours a week on a 2‑week rolling rota, may include evenings, weekends, bank holidays.
Essential Requirements
* A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar setting.
* Commitment to a 3‑week full‑time induction.
Desired Requirements (Not Essential)
* Full, clean driving licence.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist individuals in their homes in accordance with Care Plans and assess their skills and needs.
* Provide practical support for household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal care and paperwork.
* Offer emotional support by listening to problems and concerns.
* Adapt communication to each individual’s needs (sounds, tones, body language).
* Respect privacy and maintain dignity at all times.
* Act as a role model and companion, sharing hobbies and outings.
* Support and monitor healthcare needs, including administering medication where applicable.
* Help individuals pursue hobbies, interests, leisure activities and new skills to integrate into the local community.
* Assist with budgeting and bill payment, handling petty cash per company procedures.
* Accompany individuals to appointments and meetings with other agencies and healthcare professionals.
* Work with families to provide effective support, and liaise with other support workers, social workers and health care professionals.
