Palliative Care Staff Nurse
Band 6
We are a patient-centred charity that delivers palliative and end of life care to thousands of people each year with advanced life-limiting illnesses who live in Northwest Surrey, also providing support to their careers and families in patient homes, in care or nursing homes, or through its In-Patient Unit in the Hospice, as well as through the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre.
You will, therefore, be joining a passionate and dedicated team of professionals that make a real difference to the families across Surrey community.
In the short time I have worked at the Hospice, I have been really supported by the team I work within. It is a challenging environment to work in, and I am continually learning. However, it is made easier by working in a supportive and caring team. I love my job.

Main duties of the job
A successful Palliative Care Senior Staff Nurse will be:
1. Key member of the multi-disciplinary team.
2. Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are essential.
3. To utilise your advanced nursing skills and knowledge
4. Have a can-do, enthusiastic attitude.
5. Experience of palliative care is desirable; it is not essential as we can offer support through our training and development programme.
6. A compassionate nurse who will play a key role in planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence based individualised nursing care.
7. You will also possess excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to lead and motivate others.
8. An ability to teach and support junior members of the team
9. You will take charge on shift and ensure effective working amongst the team
10. Supporting complex patients with their medical, social and psychological needs
11. Engage in the development of the ward
12. Focus on improving care and ensuring best practice at all times
13. Managing a team of junior nurses and health care assistance
14. Project management
