Were currently looking for a proactive and detail-oriented
Technical Waste Administrator
to join our clients team in Harpenden. This is a key role supporting their technical and environmental operations through efficient coordination of laboratory testing, waste classification, and compliance documentation.
Working closely with laboratories, clients, and internal teams, youll play a central part in ensuring the timely flow of information, accurate data entry, and seamless communication across all stages of the waste testing and reporting process.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills and an interest in environmental services, compliance, or technical administration.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor the progress of laboratory testing and liaise with external labs to ensure results are delivered within required timeframes
Manage internal trackers to maintain visibility of laboratory jobs and performance against KPIs
Organise sample dispatch and returns, submitting Chain of Custody (CoC) documents as required
Act as the main point of contact for client updates, testing progress, purchase order queries, and delays
Upload, distribute, and maintain reports and appendices using internal systems (including ConnEx)
Assist in preparing consignment notes for hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal in line with legal requirements
Support the quoting process for testing work, keeping quote logs and updates current
Perform rapid tarmac and soil testing using a QED machine; ensure all testing equipment and sampling supplies are well-stocked
Enter accurate project data across internal portals, including financial and logistical information
Assist the technical team with route planning and job tracking for field-based engineers
Requirements
Previous experience in an administrative or coordinator role (waste or environmental experience an advantage)
Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail
Clear and confident communicator, comfortable liaising with clients and third-party suppliers
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Comfortable working with technical documents, testing data, or compliance paperwork
Confident user of Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Outlook, Word) and online reporting systems/portals
Proactive and adaptable with a willingness to learn new systems and processes
