Operations Manager (Commercial & Industrial Roofing and Maintenance)

Overview
A hands-on Operations Manager is required to lead the daily delivery of projects across commercial and industrial roofing and maintenance divisions.
This role focuses on control, coordination, and quality — managing multiple live jobs, allocating resources, and ensuring all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high professional standard.
The position serves as the operational link between management, supervisors, and clients, maintaining compliance, communication, and project momentum from first call-out to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Delivery

Plan and manage day-to-day operations across multiple live roofing and maintenance projects.

Schedule and allocate labour, materials, and access equipment to maximise productivity.
*
Conduct regular site visits to assess quality, progress, and safety compliance.
*
Oversee job tracking, reporting, and project close-out documentation.
Health, Safety & Compliance
*
Ensure all works comply with current Health & Safety legislation and internal policies.
*
Review and approve Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and permits.
*
Conduct toolbox talks, site safety audits, and incident reviews where required.
Team Management
*
Lead and support supervisors, roofers, rope-access, and maintenance operatives.
*
Monitor team performance, skills, and training requirements.
*
Promote a strong safety-first and quality-driven culture across all operations.
Client & Job Management
*
Act as the main operational contact for clients and site representatives.
*
Manage reactive call-outs, planned maintenance, and small works delivery.
*
Maintain clear communication and provide timely project updates.
*
Support estimating, costing, and reporting on ongoing and completed works.
Resource & Process Control
*
Oversee vehicle, equipment, and material logistics.
*
Collaborate with office staff to streamline job documentation and reporting.
*
Identify inefficiencies and implement practical improvements to enhance workflow and delivery performance.
Essential Skills & Experience
*
Proven background in commercial or industrial roofing, maintenance, or construction operations.
*
Strong understanding of access methods including rope access, MEWP, and scaffolding.
*
Excellent organisational and people management skills.
*
Ability to manage multiple fast-moving jobs under pressure.
*
Proficient in preparing RAMS, technical drawings, and project specifications.
*
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
*
SMSTS / SSSTS or equivalent Health & Safety certification.
*
Experience managing reactive maintenance or framework contracts.
*
Familiarity with cloud-based job management or reporting systems.

Salary: £43,700 – £61,900 per year (depending on experience)
