Data Scientist / Financial Intelligence Engineer ?? Remote - Northern Ireland ?? Salary negotiable DOE ?? Full-time, Permanent At a Glance Data science role at a US FinTech scale-up doing something genuinely new Python-first (Pandas, Polars, NumPy) with GCP and LLM exposure Fully remote across Northern Ireland Salary negotiable depending on experience Real product influence - not dashboard maintenance About the Company A Boston-based financial intelligence platform redefining how profit is modelled and understood. Rather than layering on more reporting, they've built an ontology-driven intelligence layer that transforms fragmented ERP, CRM, and HR data into a unified, structured picture of profit, cost distortion, and operational performance. Early-stage, well-funded, and building something with genuine intellectual depth. The Role This isn't an analytics role. You'll be working directly on the models that underpin the platform - deconstructing messy, real-world enterprise data, designing profit intelligence frameworks, and applying AI to infer relationships and generate explainable financial insights. You'll collaborate closely with engineering to push models into production, and contribute to the evolution of a proprietary financial ontology that sits at the core of the product. If you're comfortable with ambiguity, think in systems rather than outputs, and want your work to actually shape a product - this is worth a conversation. Key Responsibilities Deconstruct customer datasets (ERP, GL, AR/AP, CRM, etc.) into structured, usable analytical models Design and implement profit intelligence frameworks covering cost allocation, margin analysis, and unit economics Build data pipelines and transformation logic in Python (Pandas, Polars, NumPy) Apply LLMs to map unknown data structures to canonical models, infer relationships, and generate explainable financial insights Collaborate with engineering to productionise models into scalable, API-driven services Continuously refine the platform's financial ontology and underlying data models Prototype new analytical capabilities rapidly and iterate based on real customer data What You'll Need Essential Strong Python skills across Pandas, Polars, and NumPy Experience working with messy, real-world data - not clean, curated datasets Solid understanding of financial concepts: P&L, cost structures, revenue recognition, unit economics Ability to move fluidly between data exploration, model design, and production thinking Comfortable operating without perfect specs in a fast-moving product environment Desirable Hands-on experience with LLMs - prompting, embeddings, or applied inference workflows Familiarity with Google Cloud (BigQuery, Cloud Run, Vertex AI, or similar) Understanding of modern data architecture - batch/streaming, DAG-based orchestration, API-driven systems Exposure to ERP or finance systems (SAP, NetSuite, or similar) Background that blends engineering, analytics, and financial understanding Benefits & Package Salary negotiable depending on experience Fully remote - work from anywhere in Northern Ireland Direct influence on a category-defining product from day one Exposure to real, complex enterprise data problems Small team, high-trust culture - output matters, not optics Flexible working environment *Candidates must be based in Northern Ireland* Get in touch with Colin directly at Skills: Python Pandas LLM Polars Benefits: Work From Home
