A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Safety, Reliability and Engineer to join a specialist engineering department, supporting the development of technically sophisticated and highly complex products from concept through to delivery.
This role performs the duties of a senior systems-focused engineer and reports into an established technical leadership structure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Influence system development from early concept through to delivery, working closely with internal and external stakeholders
* Develop, maintain and deliver robust safety and reliability cases aligned to programme cost and schedule constraints
* Conduct and support hazard analysis and safety evaluation activities integrated within the systems engineering lifecycle
* Produce and review safety and reliability artefacts including Safety Case Reports, Hazard Analysis, Functional Failure Analysis, FTA and FMECA
* Plan and execute progressive reliability assurance activities across development, analysis and testing phases
* Balance safety assurance effort against the operational and performance requirements of complex weapon systems
* Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary and multi-national project teams, including engagement with military customers
The ideal candidate would have:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with clear verbal and written communication skills
* Good knowledge of complex electronic systems and the associated safety and reliability challenges
* Proven ability to operate effectively as part of a team, with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
* Experience working across a variety of projects, ideally within regulated or safety-critical environments
* Degree qualification or equivalent professional experience
The ideal candidate must have:
* Detailed understanding of how hazard analysis and safety evaluation integrate with systems engineering processes
* Hands-on experience delivering safety and reliability documentation and supporting evidence
* Practical experience of reliability planning, analysis and testing, with a clear understanding that reliability is more than a numerical target
* Proven knowledge and application of UK and international systems engineering processes
