Job Title: Materials Technology Graduate
Location: Telford, Stafford Park
Hours of Work: Mon-Fri 8:30-17:00
Reports to: Materials Manager
Job Purpose:
1. Work alongside an experienced and well-established Materials Technology Team to support learning for long term career growth in the area of PVC extrusion.
2. Utilise learning to enhance material technology performance at Epwin Windows, whilst demonstrating good communication, drive, passion, project management and leadership.
3. Deliver multiple continuous improvement projects in Materials Technology for PVC based material optimisation, chemical formulation innovation, value engineering, & enhanced mixing plant operation.
4. Further sustainable practices on site, with a focus on waste reduction, recycling and energy reduction.
5. Closely supported by your assigned Mentor, you will be involved in hands on learning in the following operations areas: Mixing plant supportMaterials developmentExtrusionProcess ImprovementTechnical & MeasurementNew Product Design
Key Accountabilities:
6. Support mixing plant with materials sourcing, testing and validations.
7. Conducting product trials, formulation testing and site approvals.
8. Continuous improvement with material optimisation and enhanced performance.
9. Aiding in development of Material formulations for cost reduction, improved quality and process stability.
10. Work closely with Operations and Systems Technical for product quality & approvals.
11. Support business with materials technology innovations for new product design.
12. Work closely with material suppliers to develop market leading formulations.
13. Further material waste reduction, recycling, sustainability and energy optimisation.
14. Stay up to date on current news and regulations regarding PVC and relevant materials.
Key Experiences and Skills Required:
15. Knowledge and understanding in the areas of materials science/chemistry, with a focus on polymers.
16. Demonstrate a positive attitude, lead by example and resolve any problems quickly.
17. Good communication, engagement & rapport with employees at all levels is essential.
18. Professional, motivated and ethical approach to work, with a growth mind-set.
19. Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise key tasks.
20. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Desirables Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:
21. Degree qualified in Polymer Science, Chemistry or other materials science related disciplines.
22. Computer literate with excellent MS Office skills.
23. A full driving license is essential and flexibility to travel if required.
24. Knowledge of extrusion and other relevant manufacturing technologies.
