Your role:
As our Logistics & Supply Chain Specialist you will report to the Supply Chain function of a leading Life science company. Working alongside the logistics expert, material handlers and management team, your role will include day to day management of HMRC obligations and supporting import discussions with external clients. The ability to prioritise and act quickly to support sensitive material shipments to avoid impact on its integrity is essential. Your role will include developing and enhancing existing mechanisms for tracking, consolidating data reports and reporting of import shipments and duties.
Key responsibilities include:
* Track and review logistics/courier charge accounts to ensure accurate costings, negotiating vendor rates.
* Assist in customs clearance responses to minimise delay to incoming controlled temperature shipments.
* Work with site planning and procurement team on managing and mitigating risk from suppliers covering areas such as inbound logistics, supplier terms etc.
* Provide advisements and guidance to client project managers and external customers on appropriate export terms.
* Support import and export permit applications for controlled materials.
* Keep the business in compliance with HMRC requirements.
* Work closely with the Logistics expert and Material Handlers to ensure operational logistics needs are being met.
* Lead monthly supplier meetings to track spend, monitor key performance indicators and resolve supply chain issues.
Who you are:
* Degree or recognised qualification/training in a relevant discipline (i.e CILT/CIPS etc) is desirable.
* Previous supply chain experience is desirable although we would also consider a recent graduate.
* Experience using Inventory Management Systems (ERP e.g. Oracle/SAP) or of logistics environment
* Proven Experience in customs or logistics clearance related role with working knowledge of CPC, Material Origins, VAT/Duty/Deferments, HS Codes and incoterms is desirable.
* Knowledge of Dangerous goods regulations (UK and global requirements) is desirable.
* Working in a GxP regulated environment preferred but not essential.
* Strong organisational and time management, problem solving and communication skills.
* Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
