About WMC/Our Department
The Business Operations team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Operations Manager to join our dynamic team. You will lead and oversee all aspects of security operations, ensuring the safety and integrity of the organisation’s assets and information. This is an unusual opportunity to join a fast-paced team, taking management responsibility for the safety of high-profile events in one of the UK’s most iconic buildings. It is an exciting time to join as we implement Martyn’s Law and have hosted multiple high-profile visits.
About The Role And Responsibilities
The Security Operations Manager sits within the Business Operations department and plays a key role in ensuring a safe and secure environment across the Wales Millennium Centre site for customers, visitors, staff, residents and retailers. The Manager is responsible for managing a team of 12 contracted security staff and the contract of an outsourced security provision covering a 24/7 period. The role maintains compliance across the team by overseeing licensing requirements and training protocols, and manages day-to-day operations and future planning to ensure the business leads in security and event legislation. The Manager works across the Business Operations department and is the on-site responsible person. This role requires strong leadership, with the ambition to drive the team and organisation forward in line with WMC’s strategic vision, maintaining high standards on site.
Your role will be subject to a DBS check before you start.
Key Requirements
* Be the point of contact for the Security Team when absence from the zero hours team or agency is not possible.
* Cover hours that cannot be covered by the Security zero hours team or security agency.
* Proactively manage team training to a high standard, including mandatory WMC e-learning and ensuring the security team are up to date with legislation from NACTSO/NCA and the SIA.
* Manage security rosters and administration responsibilities for the teams.
* Manage all compliance for the security department, ensuring security legislation is adhered to and all SIA licenses are in date and accurately recorded for compliance and auditing.
* Lead on the introduction of Martyn’s Law legislation coming into effect in 2025.
* Ensure seamless delivery of security for all events with a proactive approach to service delivery.
