Overview
The Histopathology Department at Dorset County Hospital is recruiting a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to work full‑time on a permanent basis. The role reports to the Head Biomedical Scientist / Histopathology Laboratory Manager.
Responsibilities
* Deliver routine and urgent histology, non‑gynaecological cytopathology, andrology and immunohistochemistry samples in collaboration with other laboratory staff and department personnel.
* Work closely with Consultant Histopathologists and laboratory staff, communicating regularly with other service users in the hospital.
* Ensure the satisfactory delivery of the complete range of services offered by the histopathology department.
* Lead and be part of the Histopathology team once fully trained.
Qualifications and Experience
* Background working in a diagnostic laboratory with specialist knowledge of histopathology processes.
* IBMS Specialist Diploma for Cellular Pathology is preferred; HCPC registered individuals without the diploma may be considered for a Band 5 development position, subject to progression towards completing the specialist portfolio within a suitable timeframe.
