Offer description

Underwriting Portfolio Analyst

12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

A highly regarded insurer is looking to appoint an Underwriting Portfolio Analyst to join a central underwriting strategy and portfolio management function on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

This is a high-profile opportunity sitting close to underwriting leadership, supporting the ongoing development of portfolio insight, performance monitoring, and strategic decision-making across a complex underwriting environment.

The role offers broad exposure across portfolio management, underwriting performance, MI development, and stakeholder engagement, making it well suited to someone who enjoys combining technical analysis with commercial impact.

You will work closely with senior portfolio management stakeholders to maintain and enhance underwriting MI, monitor portfolio performance, support targeted reviews, and help deliver meaningful insight that informs underwriting strategy and planning.

The position will also contribute to wider change and improvement activity across the broader underwriting strategy and portfolio management team.

Requirements:

* Experience within the insurance or reinsurance market, ideally in portfolio management, underwriting performance, MI, actuarial, financial analysis, or a similar analytical function
* Strong analytical capability with the confidence to interpret complex data and draw out clear commercial insight
* Advanced Excel skills, including experience working with complex spreadsheet models and VBA
* Experience maintaining and improving data-heavy MI and reporting suites
* Ability to summarise findings clearly and concisely for a range of stakeholders
* Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Power BI experience would be advantageous, particularly around dashboard development and migration from Excel-based reporting
* A proactive, curious, and commercially minded approach, with the confidence to challenge where appropriate
* Strong academic background, ideally with a numerate degree, though this is not essential

This role would suit an ambitious and highly analytical individual who enjoys working close to the business, influencing senior stakeholders, and helping shape underwriting performance through data-led insight.
