If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Leadership Support Team to provide PA support to the Executive Director of People - Adults & Housing.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced personal assistant to take on this fast paced but rewarding role, working with colleagues within the Adults and Housing Directorate to support the directorate and its management team. You will be working at the heart of the organisation in our friendly and supportive team, liaising with colleagues across the directorates. The role is interesting and varied, and no two days are the same.
What You Will Be Doing
You will assist the Executive Director in developing and managing key relationships with elected members, partner organisations, stakeholders and other local authorities and will act as a first point of contact. You will need to be a skilled communicator with excellent attention to detail. Internally, you’ll be working closely with the Senior and Corporate Leadership Teams, Cabinet portfolio holders, Elected Members and Dorset Council colleagues, so you will need to possess excellent influencing and negotiating skills. The role requires commitment to delivering a first-class service in a busy and ever changing environment.
Good written communication skills are essential - this varied work will include drafting and amending correspondence, reports and presentations within prescribed and often demanding timescales; dealing with complaints; attending meetings to record minutes and actions and then communicating these with the wider directorate; complex diary management including arranging and co-ordinating internal and external high-level meetings and events.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
* work with colleagues to resolve problems and help improve systems and processes to provide a better service to our residents.
* will assist the Executive Director and Business Manager with the Council’s objectives and identify and undertake relevant research
* will attend and support meetings, as well as managing outcomes and actions for our Leadership Teams, ensuring allocated work is completed on time
* have an adaptable approach and be able to prioritise and work to deadlines
* have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude
* be able to to work on your own initiative or as part of a team
Ideally you will have experience of complex diaries and dealing with people sensitively and assertively.
You will need an excellent working knowledge and be competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and OneDrive.
The post requires extensive knowledge of the Council and the ability to work in a busy, politically challenging environment.
This post offers the flexibility of working in a hybrid way providing support based at County Hall, Dorchester, as well as virtual support from home to suit business need. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings and events. #J-18808-Ljbffr
