Summary:

* Northern Gas Networks is owned by a consortium of three partners that are committed to supporting the company’s mission to deliver a safe and reliable gas service, provide excellent customer service, and go the extra mile for the communities they serve.

Size:

* Directly employ 1,300 people and provide regular work to around 800 contractors. They support 2.7 million customers across the north of England and are investing £1bn over the next 8 years to upgrade the region’s gas network.


About the Job

Reason for vacancy:

* The Senior Commercial Manager required a new hire to help manage five high pressure gas pipeline diversions for Network Rail, as part of their TransPennine electrification programme.

Key responsibilities:

* Develop commercial and procurement strategies across a portfolio of regional utility capital projects.
* Senior Quantity Surveyors with strong infrastructure project experience from relevant contractors or subcontractors, who can commute weekly across West Yorkshire.
* Experience of developing commercial and procurement strategies as well as post-contract management of variations and claims to a high level.
* Finding candidates of an appropriate calibre within the salary band, as Northern Gas Networks salary bands didn’t initially line up to the pool of contracting candidates with relevant project exposure and client-facing stakeholder experience.
