Job overview
CNWL NHS Foundation Trust (Milton Keynes) offers a specialist training programme – the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) Health Visiting Course – run as a joint programme with Northampton University. The course combines clinical practice and university attendance, with mileage covered from the Milton Keynes 0-19 Team base.
Main duties of the job
* Attend university course dates and practice placement days in accordance with university regulations and achieve successful completion of the Post Graduate Diploma (Level 7).
* Link theoretical knowledge from the university programme to practice settings with support from the Practice Assessor & Practice Supervisor.
* Demonstrate understanding of national, regional and local healthcare legislation, policies and guidelines relevant to the chosen pathway.
* Develop and build skills in individual caseload management and leadership/management within a team.
* Comply with university regulations, student conduct, and employing organisation policies regarding academic work and employee responsibilities.
* Proactively seek learning opportunities and adapt creatively to complex situations.
Person specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
* Educated to degree level.
Experience
* Demonstrated keen interest in public health and community work.
* Community experience or other experience relevant to Health Visiting.
Knowledge & Skills
* Understanding of public health and the Healthy Child Programme.
* Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work as a member of a team, and independently on own initiative in line with national and local standards and procedures.
