Assessor/Trainer in Cyber and IT
Role Summary
We are seeking an occupationally competent Trainer to deliver apprenticeship and degree-level programmes in Cyber, Networking, Infrastructure, and Programming. You will support apprentices in developing practical skills, applying industry-standard tools and techniques, and preparing for End Point Assessments. The role is based in modern facilities, with opportunities for placements and professional development.
A satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure is required due to regulated activity with children, along with reference and online checks.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver inspiring lessons and develop learning resources aligned with apprenticeship standards.
* Support apprentices in achieving qualifications and personal/professional growth.
* Assess learner progress and maintain documentation for audits and reporting.
* Develop tailored training plans and contribute to employer engagement.
* Participate in reviews, contribute to attendance/retention targets, and undertake professional development.
* Comply with College policies on Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, and sustainability.
* Undertake other duties as reasonably required by line management.
Essential:
* Technical background in Cyber Security or IT (networking, programming, or related).
* Minimum Level 4 qualification in Computing, Software Development, Cyber Security, Forensics, or equivalent experience.
* GCSE English & Maths (or willingness to achieve).
* Assessor qualification (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable:
* Experience delivering apprenticeship programmes up to Level 6.
* Teaching or assessing qualifications (V1, IQA).
* Relevant certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+.
* Experience developing and delivering classroom sessions and training materials.
* Knowledge of Cyber Security concepts: Cryptography, Incident Response, Forensics, Vulnerabilities, Threats.
* System administration, network management, and understanding of IT architecture, hardware, OS, server, virtualization, and applications.
* Experience building computers, troubleshooting, and maintaining IT infrastructure.
* Understanding networking protocols, LAN/WAN infrastructure, and security principles (CIA).
