This role has a starting salary of £54,636 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

Waverley Locality Team are excited to be recruiting a new Assistant Team Manager (Social Worker or Occupational Therapy qualified) to join our friendly team based in Godalming. This role is open to hybrid working and as a team we split our time between collaborating with colleagues in the office for two days per week, working within the communities we serve, and working from home.

This is a secondment opportunity until September 2026. Please discuss with your current Line Manager before submitting your application.

About the Role

We are a caring and committed team serving residents living in Waverley who find themselves in need of drawing on care and support. The team works closely with carers, family members and partner organisations to enable residents to live their best possible lives, without leaving anyone behind. We are committed to ensuring carers and family members feel supported, given the vital role they perform in the life of those who matter most to them.

We are a professional team made up of Social Care and Occupational Therapy Assistants, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists. We are a team committed to learning and development, at both an individual and team level - this is a priority for us.

As an Assistant Team Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of a busy, dynamic team, effectively prioritising daily challenges and expectations. You will support the Team Manager to deliver high quality, personalised adult social care. Additionally, a key accountability of the role is developing staff practice ensuring the team you work within is the best it can be.

This role guarantees a supportive team, excellent training and development opportunities, including our Social Work Academy 'Senior Readiness Programme'.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with :

10. A professional social work qualification and completion of any post-qualification practice or training requirements and Social Work England Registration
11. Significant post-qualification experience, including experience in a social care setting, and excellent understanding of the social care and health agendas
12. Applied knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, including the Mental Capacity Act and the NHS Continuing Healthcare National Framework
13. Effective knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults' procedures
14. Excellent communication skills that enable you to successfully manage a team and develop effective relationships
15. Examples of when you have provided effective professional supervision to less experienced colleagues.
16. Strong track record of inter-agency partnership working
17. Strong commitment to achieving positive, strengths-based outcomes that promote maximum community inclusion, and personal choice and control

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.
