The EHS Engineer plays an integral part in ensuring BD Plymouth complies with all relevant Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability legislation and drives functional business targets.
About The Role
The EHS Engineer will build effective relationships across the Plymouth site and promote a positive culture. The role reports to the site EHS Lead and works closely with Corporate EHS and Sustainability teams.
Main Responsibilities
* Assist management in implementing and maintaining health and safety standards.
* Maintain ISO14001 certification and lead environmental management reviews.
* Act as key contact for external audits and visits.
* Report site environmental impact (utilities, energy, water, waste).
* Provide support for Employers Liability or Public Liability claims.
* Carry out risk assessments on assembly equipment.
* Participate in Business Team meetings and provide functional data.
* Create and maintain COSHH risk assessments.
* Conduct internal and external EHS audits and track remedial work.
* Utilise data to analyse near misses and incidents.
* Identify and conduct Health and Safety training.
* Write and maintain safety procedures for manufacturing equipment, chemical handling, workplace transport, manual handling and contractor management.
* Assist with accident, incident and near miss investigations.
* Keep up to date with new legislation.
* Report unsafe occurrences to relevant bodies.
* Assist with introduction of new machinery and processes.
* Attend blitz activities, waste events, and safety committees.
* Review and approve Change Control documentation.
About You
* BSc or BEng in a Health & Safety discipline.
* NEBOSH, IOSH or NVQ H&S qualification or equivalent experience.
* Experience in a high volume manufacturing organisation.
* Detailed understanding of legal compliance and proven auditor experience.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to build working relationships.
* Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and hazards assessment.
* Strong IT skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
* Project management and / or team leadership experience an advantage.
* Recognised engineering qualification an advantage.
Salary Range
€45,000 - €47,500
£42,000.00 - £71,400.00 GBP Annual
