Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be skilled in working with a variety of refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including ammonia (NH₃), FGAS-regulated systems, and CO₂ applications. You will be responsible for carrying out installation, commissioning, servicing, fault-finding, and repair work across a diverse range of equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, service, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning systems across industrial and commercial sites.
Carry out diagnostic work, fault-finding, and effective solutions on a range of equipment including blast freezers, chillers, cold stores, and compressors.
Work with refrigerants including CO₂, ammonia (NH₃), and FGAS-regulated gases in line with legal and safety requirements.
Perform compressor overhauls, commissioning, and system upgrades where required.
Support the design and build of purpose-built and portable refrigeration solutions.
Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and industry standards at all times.
Provide excellent customer service and clear communication with clients regarding system performance and maintenance.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Refrigeration or Air Conditioning Engineer (industrial/commercial experience preferred).
Valid FGAS certification.
NH₃ (ammonia) and CO₂ refrigeration qualifications/certification.
Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical control systems, and mechanical components.
Ability to read technical drawings and system schematics.
Full UK driving licence.
Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Experience with portable refrigeration solutions and rental systems.
Knowledge of glycol chillers and ice machines.
Previous experience with compressor strip-downs and rebuilds.
