Fleet Support Officer
Permanent, 36.5 hours per week. Pay: Grade B – £28,598 – £34,434 (consultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review). Location: Birmingham City Council, Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and maintain essential maintenance documentation (PMI’s, brake tests, defect logs).
* Keep statutory records up to date for tax, MOT, insurance and licensing.
* Validate fuel card requests and monitor fuel transactions for accuracy.
* Assist with procurement activities, including raising purchase orders.
* Support insurance claims processing and incident reporting.
* Liaise with suppliers and service providers to resolve compliance issues promptly.
* Produce and analyse fleet data reports using Excel and Power BI.
* Ensure GDPR compliance when handling sensitive documentation.
* Administer hire vehicle approvals and monitor associated costs.
* Support monitoring of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Qualifications
* Understands vehicle compliance requirements (MOTs, O Licence, tax, insurance).
* Has experience managing insurance claims and analysing fleet data.
* Is highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
* Communicates effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Is proficient in IT systems, including fleet management software, Microsoft Office and DVLA portals.
