Role Overview
We are seeking a Project Management Assistant to support the delivery of a Network Rail project. The role will involve assisting the project management team with coordination, reporting, and engineering-related support activities to ensure compliance with client requirements and smooth project execution. This is a junior position, ideal for someone with early career experience in project management or engineering, looking to gain further exposure within the rail sector.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day project management support to the senior project team.
Assist with project documentation, progress tracking, and reporting to stakeholders.
Support coordination of meetings, workshops, and project reviews.
Maintain and update project records in line with Network Rail processes and governance.
Help monitor risks, issues, and actions, escalating where appropriate.
Liaise with engineering and delivery teams to track progress against programme milestones.
Assist with ASPRO-related tasks (Asset Protection), where applicable, ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards.
Requirements
Background in Project Management or Engineering (essential).
Prior experience within the Rail sector is preferred.
Knowledge of ASPRO (Asset Protection) processes is highly desirable.
Strong organisational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Competent user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
Role Details
Location: York (3 days per week, on-site at Network Rail).
Start Date: October 2025 (subject to bid outcome).
Engagement: 3 days per week.
Rate: ~£35 p/h
