How you’ll play your part
In this role, you will manage credit control activities within the Mercedes-Benz Cars Service Contracts portfolio, ensuring accurate financial collections, effective account management, and a high level of customer satisfaction that supports customer loyalty to Mercedes-Benz.
Main Accountabilities
1. Customer Account Issue Resolution: Take ownership of resolving customer account issues by reviewing accounts on collection block, identifying root causes, investigating discrepancies, and working collaboratively with customers to agree appropriate solutions. Ensure timely follow up, escalating complex or high-risk cases where required. Alongside this, identify and support vulnerable customers in line with company policy by ensuring they are treated fairly, provided with suitable support options, and that all interactions and outcomes are accurately recorded. This combined approach ensures both operational issues and customer wellbeing are consistently prioritised.
2. Arrears Management and Collections: Monitor the Service Contracts customer portfolio to identify overdue payments and initiate appropriate collections processes to recover arrears. Maintain accurate records to support reporting and ensure all collection activities are completed in line with internal procedures.
3. Hostile Termination Processing: Process hostile terminations of Service Contracts in accordance with internal policies and procedures. Ensure accurate calculation of outstanding balances, appropriate system updates, clear documentation, and communication with relevant stakeholders to ensure financial and operational accuracy.
4. Process Improvement and Change Support: Proactively contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and departmental initiatives that improve operational efficiency and enhance the customer experience. Support a customer-centric culture and assist with change initiatives aimed at delivering a flexible, customer-focused service model.
5. Operational Support: Carry out additional tasks as required by the line manager or key stakeholders that are appropriate to the role, skills, and experience of the job holder.
About you
6. Previous credit control experience within a large organisation.
7. Knowledge of Direct Debit processes (desirable).
8. Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle a variety of customer situations.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional email and letter writing with strong English grammar.
10. Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
11. High attention to detail and accuracy.
12. Experience with billing procedures and financial systems such as SAP or similar platforms.
13. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
14. Strong analytical skills including the use of Excel functions such as VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and Mail Merge.
15. Comfortable working in a target-driven environment.
16. Strong problem-solving abilities with the ability to take ownership of issues and resolve them within agreed timeframes.
17. Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
18. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
19. Numerate with good financial awareness.
