Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Be U Swindon Mental Health Support Team for a Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP). The employment-based training role within the forming part of NHSE, HEE and DOH initiative is to expand the mental health workforce offering support to children and young people at a stage of early intervention.
The successful post-holder will work within Be U Swindon as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering, under supervision, high-quality; outcome-informed, focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties.
Main duties of the job
The role involves delivering evidence-based interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working closely with families, schools, and professionals to support self-management and positive outcomes.
The post holder will undertake assessments, manage risk, maintain accurate records, and participate in supervision and training to continually develop their skills.
Responsibilities
* Assess and deliver, under supervision, outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
* Work in partnership with children, young people, and families to support self-management of presenting difficulties.
* Work in partnership with children, young people, and families to develop plans for intervention and agreed outcomes.
* Support and empower children, young people, and families to make informed choices about intervention.
* Operate at all times from an inclusive values base, recognizing and respecting diversity.
Qualifications
* Evidence of ability to study successfully at undergraduate level or equivalent Level 5 qualification with relevant experience.
* Psychology or other health / social care / youth-related undergraduate degree.
Experience
* Experience of working with children and/or young people.
* Evidence of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
* Experience of working in mental health or related services.
* Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place to demonstrate outcomes.

On successful completion of the trainee EMHP course, which is a full-time role funded at NHS Band 4 or equivalent, you will be able to achieve a band 5 or equivalent position within the team.
