Sous Chef – Exciting Opportunity in a Stunning Countryside Venue
I’m delighted to be hiring on behalf of a beautiful, family-run countryside venue that’s fast becoming one of Hampshire’s most sought-after destinations for weddings, events, and luxury rural getaways. Known for its rustic luxury charm, this venue is expanding its culinary offering and is now looking for a passionate and talented Sous Chef to join their growing kitchen team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of something special — shaping menus, delivering outstanding food experiences, and contributing to a business that’s evolving into a year-round destination for unforgettable celebrations and stays.
Responsibilities
* Full-time, typically around 40 hours per week, across 5 days out of 7
* Flexibility required around weddings and events — no two days are the same!
* Work closely with the Head Chef on menu development, food preparation, and service
* Support the kitchen across events, farm shop offerings, and on-site food experiences
* Prepare and serve high-quality dishes on event and non-event days
* Assist with menu design and take concepts from idea to execution
* Maintain excellent standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety
* Demonstrate strong knowledge of allergens and seasonal produce
* Support additional food offerings such as the farm shop and food truck
* Collaborate with Events and Bar Managers to ensure smooth service
* Undertake some lone working and early breakfast shifts when required
* Minimum 1 year’s experience as a Sous Chef in a similar venue catering for 100+ covers
* Confident working with fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients
* Solid understanding of HACCP and general kitchen management processes
* Strong communication skills and a proactive, “can-do” attitude
* Creative and enthusiastic about producing homemade products
* Own transport is essential due to the rural location
* Must be eligible to work full-time in the UK
This is a hands-on role in a supportive environment where creativity is encouraged and development is actively supported. You’ll work alongside an experienced Head Chef who will help you grow and refine your skills while giving you space to make your mark.
