We are currently recruiting…
Children's Homes Assistant Manager to work within our expanding Children's Residential network across the whole of Lancashire at Lancashire County Council.
At Lancashire County Council, we believe that every child deserves more than just a place to stay – they deserve a loving home filled with compassion, understanding, and endless possibilities. If you're a passionate and dedicated individual with a heart for children's well-being, we want to welcome you to our growing family!
We are keen to hear from both experienced Assistant Managers and those looking to take that next step where we can support you into your first management position. Are you a teacher looking for a change in direction? A residential, youth or social worker wanting to progress your career? Then this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for. We would love to hear from you!
What We Are Looking For…
Passion – You'll be passionate about young people and the difference that you can make to their lives and outcomes for the future. You'll be dynamic and inspirational with ethics, values and integrity at the heart of what you do. Your enthusiasm and dedication will play a pivotal role in creating a positive and enriching experience for the amazing children in our care, and creating a strength based, positive culture for our workforce.
Creative & Innovative – For some posts, the staff team will be a brand-new so you'll have the opportunity to shape and define the culture from the start, encouraging those in your team to "think outside the box" when it comes to connecting and supporting children and young people who will potentially have personal challenges to overcome. You'll also find creative solutions to your own leadership challenges working closely with social work teams, and professionals from health, education, police, and the community.
Inspirational & Supportive Leadership– There's no doubt that this is an emotionally difficult and challenging role so you'll be personally resilient and appreciate the impact that those challenges can have upon your team - empowering them on a regular basis and providing additional support where required. One of the benefits of working for a local authority is the additional support that's easily and readily available for you. You will have access to psychological support for you and your team; regular supervision with your Registered Manager, opportunity to engage in reflective learning circles with our Practice Development Managers and a whole suite of informal and formal training opportunities.
Why join us…
Benefits: There's fabulous flexibility and the opportunity to create a work life balance you'll love - with up to 32 days annual leave plus bank holidays, 2 additional days at Christmas plus 20 additional days leave that you can purchase. We also have a generous local authority pension with shared contribution AVC's available, and a benefits package that will exceed your expectations, from a 24/7 Employee Assistance Program to a range of discounts with our new Vivup benefits platform including retail, leisure and entertainment discounts, plus salary sacrifice for white goods, electronics, cars, bicycles and much more!
Development: We are an expanding service, and with this comes an expanding variety of opportunities. In addition to our 50+ free training courses, we also offer professional qualifications (to degree level) as part of our apprenticeship scheme. There will be time for supportive reflection and supervision for yourself, and opportunities to carve out your individualised and defined career pathway. We offer multidisciplinary initiatives, mentoring, the opportunity to make a difference, feel valued and achieve the job satisfaction you've always wanted.
Inclusivity: We don't have a "one size fits all" idealism, we embrace diversity and that includes around personal and family requirements so we're happy to offer an array of flexible working opportunities. We are committed to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive working environment for all of our team. Our aim is to ensure that everyone is equally valued and respected and that our organisation is representative of all members of society, working in an environment where individual differences are celebrated. To support this, we would especially welcome applications from those from a diverse background who would enhance our service by joining us and we have some great support groups and forums available for anyone to join.
