Job Summary
The post‑holder will provide general medical services during out of hours, addressing a wide range of health needs in the urgent care setting and ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients.

Main Duties
* Manage medical requirements of patients contacted by the service.
* Assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for the West Cheshire population during out of hours.
* Conduct clinical sessions at all bases including face‑to‑face appointments, telephone advice and home visits as per rota; required shifts include evenings, weekends, nights and bank holidays (minimum two weekends per month, four of eight bank holidays). Sessions should meet agreed protocols promptly.
* Support clinical streaming within the A&E Department as rostered.
* Facilitate 10‑minute appointments and telephone advice; a GP registrar may be attached to sessions.
* Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate.
* Provide preventive health care and advice.
* Offer medical support to patients referred by nursing staff.
* Issue free certification under Schedule 9 of NHS GMS Regulations (1992).

Person Specification
Essential
* Medical practitioner registered under Article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
* Not subject to suspension under Section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
* Qualified General Practitioner (completed Certificate of Completion of Training).
* Current on a CCG performer list and not suspended.
* DBS clearance.
* Annual NHS appraisal completed.
* Knowledge of the NHS, experience in out‑of‑hours urgent care.
* Recent experience in general practice in the UK.
* Commitment to multidisciplinary mixed‑skill teams.
Desirable
* Post‑graduate education in relevant fields.
* MRCGP, DCH, DRCOG qualifications.
* Level 1 or 2 certificates.
* F2 supervisor training or teaching diploma.
* Continuous professional development activities.
* Understanding of demand management, Read codes, audit.
* Independent working experience in general practice.
* Service change support experience.
* Teaching GP registrars, F2, medical or nursing students.
* Accredited GP registrar trainer or F2 supervisor.
* Audit participation evidence.
