We’re looking for aDigital Analytics Engineerto help shape how ASOS understands customer behaviour across our digital estate.
This role sits at the heart ofdigitalanalytics and experimentation, combininganalytics engineering,behavioural data modelling, andclose partnership with product and engineering teams. You’ll ensure behavioural data iswell designed, observable, and trusted, enabling teams to make confident decisions and run highquality experiments at scale.
Job Description
What You’ll Be Doing
* Build and extendcore behavioural modelsin Databricks that describe how customers interact with ASOS across web and app
* Design and maintain:
o Sessionlogic
o Funnels and journeys
o Attribution logic
o Feature usage and engagement metrics
o Experiment exposure and variant datasets
* Createdomainspecific behavioural martsoptimised for analytics and experimentation use cases
* Own the quality and consistency ofbehavioural events flowing intoAnalyticsplatforms
* Ensure events conform to agreed:
o Schemas and naming conventions
o Data types and required fields
o Privacy first compliance
* Build and maintaintransformation pipelineswhere enrichment or standardisation is required
* Act as a technical owner of event contractsbetween frontend teams and analytics
Data Quality & Observability
* In collaboration with the teams software engineers implement end-to-end data quality checks across frontend → ingestion →Analytics→Databricks
* Monitor and alert on:
o Schema changes and validation failures
o Event completeness and coverage
o Cardinality drift
o Volume anomalies
o Identity and user stitching integrity
* Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact experiments or reporting
Semantic Layer Enablement
* Enable trusted behavioural metrics through:
o Databricksmetricenabled views
o Power BI semantic models
* Ensure metrics are usable for:
o Selfserveanalysis
o Executive and leadership reporting
o “Talk to Data” and agentbasedworkflows
* Partner withproductanalysts, data and product teamsto ensure metrics are clear, consistent, and reusable
Frontend Instrumentation Alignment
* Work closely with web and app engineers to ensure instrumentation meets analytics and experimentation needs
* Support:
o Event payload and schema design
o Instrumentation PR reviews
o Pre‑release validation
o Experiment tagging and exposure tracking
* Act as a go to expert for behavioural tracking best practices
Qualifications
Core Skills & Experience
* Experience inanalytics engineering, data engineering, or product analytics
* Strong SQL and experience working inDatabricks / Spark/ DBT/ Python
* Solid understanding ofbehavioural andeventbaseddata modelling
* Hands‑on experience withproduct analytics platforms(e.g.Mixpanel, Adobeor similar)
* Experience buildingreliable data pipelines and quality controlsComfortable working closely withsoftware engineerswithin product teamson data instrumentation
* A pragmatic,detailorientedapproach to data quality
Nice to Have
* Experience supportingexperimentation and A/B testing
* Knowledge of identity resolution andcrossdevice tracking
* Experience enablingselfserveanalytics
* Interest inAIassisted analytics ormetricdriven agents
