Based in London, our Property, Science and Industry group is undergoing significant growth as it continues to win major work in the commercial, residential, retail and science sectors. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Incorporated / Chartered Principal Electrical Engineer to join our London team.
Our team is looking to strengthen its project level leadership through the recruitment of an electrical engineering lead who can provide a combination of technical, project and business area leadership. They will hold specific multi-disciplinary technical leadership and management responsibilities within the Property business.
Our projects need to be part of the transition to net‑zero carbon and increasingly we see electrical engineering sitting at the heart of how that transition can be achieved. We are looking for people who can understand the magnitude of the challenge and rise to it, bringing with them a sense of inquisitiveness and an enthusiasm to challenge the status quo.

About the Role
You will be a key part of a multidisciplinary, collaborative team of Engineers and Technicians, working flexibly from our London office. Our projects are global and will allow you to work with and succeed in an international, multi‑cultural business environment with a strong focus on sustainability in all we do.
As a Principal Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for the production of the electrical and MEP designs on your projects and as such will be accountable both to project leaders and the electrical discipline within the business, taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results.
Day‑to‑day you will prepare and co‑ordinate electrical reports and specifications and undertake comprehensive technical review of submittals from contractors. You will design, develop and produce high quality electrical designs for your projects involving sketches, calculation plans, technical studies, drawings, reports and models. Alongside your project work, you will also provide technical guidance and mentoring to our junior engineers on the team.
The role is external facing and you will be responsible for setting up and delivering project outcomes, including financial performance and client satisfaction. We expect that you will be a capable leader of engineering project teams, achieving through delegation as well as directly.
Responsibilities
* Production of the electrical and MEP designs on your projects, accountable to project leaders and the electrical discipline within the business
* Preparation and coordination of electrical reports and specifications
* Coordination of design, including development of design programme
* Organisation and leadership of technical resources to deliver project objectives
* Comprehensive technical review of submittals from contractors
* Technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team
* Design, development and production of high‑quality and considered electrical design for your projects, involving sketches, calculation plans, technical studies, BIM models, drawings, reports and specifications
Who You Are
* Hold a degree level qualification in electrical engineering or a related subject and be professionally registered with a relevant engineering institution such as IEI, CIBSE etc
* Be an enthusiastic Principal Engineer who enjoys working collaboratively in multi‑professional design teams and taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results who is committed to your own professional development and looking for stimulating work to develop your engineering skills
* Have knowledge and interest in sustainable building design in terms of both energy and carbon, and satisfying associated regulatory and voluntary codes
* Possess detailed knowledge of relevant British Standards (including BS 7671, BS 7430, BS 5839, BS 9999)
* Have excellent technical aptitude and experience in a range of electrical service design software. Familiarity with MS Office is a given, familiarity with other design software such as Amtech, ETAP, Dialux and Revit or Microstation would be an advantage
