Our client is a close-knit, people-first accountancy practice based in South West London/Central London, with a diverse client base and a genuine commitment to the growth and wellbeing of their team. As an Audit Senior, you will take ownership of audit engagements end-to-end, work alongside experienced directors, and play a meaningful part in developing the next generation of talent within the practice. With a clear path to Manager and a hybrid working model built around flexibility, this is a role where you can thrive professionally without sacrificing your personal commitments.
What You'll Be Doing
* Planning, executing, and delivering audit engagements to a high standard and within agreed timescales
* Reviewing financial statements and accounting records to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations
* Conducting substantive and analytical audit testing to verify the accuracy of financial data, including evaluation of balance sheets and income statements
* Assessing and identifying financial and compliance-related risks, and recommending appropriate strategies to address them
* Acting as a key point of contact during audit engagements, keeping communication with stakeholders clear and transparent
* Reviewing the work of junior team members, ensuring accuracy and adherence to auditing standards, and providing constructive feedback
* Supporting, mentoring, and training junior colleagues to help them grow their skills and build their careers
* Ensuring all audit findings, processes, and decisions are thoroughly documented
* Gaining exposure to wider areas of accountancy, including accounts preparation and consolidations
* Ensuring compliance with internal audit methodology and risk management frameworks, as well as external regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For
* Extensive working knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS101 and FRS102)
* Demonstrable experience of leading, supervising, and coaching members of staff
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to review financial records accurately and efficiently
* Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with both colleagues and external stakeholders
* A proactive, organised approach to managing workloads and meeting deadlines
* Experience working on smaller engagements 1-4 weeks
Nice to Have
* Exposure to accounts preparation or consolidations
* Experience working within a practice environment with a varied client base
* An interest in progressing into a management role in the near term
