Salary: £62,000 to £71,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

Location: Salford. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working (office day is Tuesday)

The Short Form Video team build and maintain the BBC’s media experiences across BBC Online. From videos summarising the latest news stories, to clips of incredible sporting achievements, we enable the BBC’s journalists to present video that educates, informs, and entertains the audience. Our mission is to keep the BBC relevant and valued by enabling people to explore the breadth and depth of content we have to offer, and recommending new and interesting topics for users to dive into.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Demonstrate strong expertise in full stack web development as part of a multi-discipline agile team.
* Take a structured and professional approach to engineering, ensuring high-quality development.
* Actively participate in pair programming sessions, working closely with other engineers to write maintainable and efficient code.
* Conduct rigorous testing and collaborate with Test Engineers for continuous improvement to testing strategies.
* Drive the ambition to build an outstanding engineering team and culture.
* Conduct code reviews, maintain coding standards and guidelines.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement requirements.
* Participate in and help improve the team’s software development methodologies such as pairing, code and documentation reviewing, and continuous delivery.
* Write, review and take responsibility for technical documentation.
* Lead troubleshooting and resolution of issues throughout the product life cycle.
* Remain hand-on in coding while mentoring and coaching more junior staff. Provide technical leadership and direction to colleagues.
* Expertise in developing for operational and non-functional concerns (monitoring integration, performance testing, scale, availability and resilience, security considerations).
* Build multi-variate testing (MVT) experiments to help discover new improvements and innovations for our products.
Your Skills And Experience
* Extensive experience with the end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance.
* Solid understanding of software development principles, design patterns and best practices.
* Experience of AWS Services such as Lambda and CloudWatch.
* Expertise in TDD and BDD, and previous experience using relevant testing tools such as Jest, JSDOM, Puppeteer, and Chromatic.
* Previous experience managing observability and operational responsibility for large-scale products, both in and out of hours.
