Overview

There is an exciting opportunity for a Maternity Support Worker to join the Infant Feeding Team within the Northumbria midwifery service. The role will be predominately based at our Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, with the expectation to work at base sites. A flexible approach to the role is essential and the successful candidate must be prepared to work within other clinical areas within the Trusts' Maternity Services, if required to support service provision.

The post holder is expected to demonstrate essential competencies in infant feeding support and will work in close collaboration with the maternity, neonatal and health visiting services to ensure a seamless delivery of care across the infant feeding service, providing continuity of care to families.


Responsibilities

* Care of the birth person
* Obstetric and Neonatal Emergencies
* Health promotion and screening
* Infant feeding
* Care of the newborn
* Participate in audits, with focus on recruiting families to participate in feedback on service care provision, in line with UNICEF UK Baby Friendly
* Work alongside the Infant Feeding Coordinator and Tongue Tie Practitioners within specialist clinics, including triage and diary management


Qualifications and Requirements

* The post holder is expected to demonstrate the Essential person specification in line with the Job Description and undertake a set of defined competencies. Support will be given to employees to further develop their skills and explore pathways for progression where appropriate.
* Applicants who are members of the Armed Forces, and those who have a disability that requires support in the work place (two ticks pledge) and who meet the essential criteria will be interviewed under the Trust's interview guarantee scheme.
* Applicants who meet the Fit and Proper Person Requirements (FPPR) will require additional pre-employment checks in line with CQC and NHS England statutory guidance.
* Certificate of Sponsorship: Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust holds a sponsor licence. In order to provide sponsorship you and the role you are applying for must meet UKVI eligibility requirements. Please check eligibility prior to submitting an application.
* The Trust requires all successful applicants to pay for their own DBS certification if a DBS check is required for the post (salary deduction from first monthly pay).
