We are seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a new pupil joining Year 3 who has Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and is non-speaking. The successful candidate will provide dedicated, full-time support to ensure the pupil can access learning, build communication skills, and thrive in a structured, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
Implement strategies set by the SENCO and external professionals
Support with alternative communication methods (e.g. PECS, visuals, AAC)
Promote engagement, emotional regulation, and independence
Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents
Requirements:
Previous experience supporting children with ASC or non-verbal communication needs
Strong understanding of behaviour support and communication strategies
Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude
Ideally experience with PECS, Makaton, or similar approaches
Hours: [8:30am 3:30pm, term-time only] Pay: [£105£110 per day, depending on experience]
