Michelham Ward is an acute 21-bedded Gastroenterology ward. Patients treated on the ward have a variety of Gastro needs. Such as Crohn's disease, alcoholic hepatitis, Eating Disorders, Mal absorption Disorders, Gastrointestinal bleeding, Gastric cancers and acute Liver diseases. It is also the cohort ward for the Trust for C difficile patients, and we have a dedicated area to looking after Bariatric patients.
We are looking for experienced Clinical Support Workers, hospital experience is desirable but not essential. A minimum of GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths, Care Certificate and or NVQ2 two in health and social care or the equivalent role. Your role will be to provide delegated clinical procedures such as insertion/removal of cannula, venepuncture, wound assessment and simple dressings, removal of urinary catheter, training will be provided Successful applicants will be required to complete an Induction course, which will include all the Trust statutory/Mandatory training to join our team inviting them to share their knowledge and experience with the ward; you will need to be well motivated and committed to high standards of patient care and personal professional development.
Main duties of the job
Promote dignity, respect and privacy in the delivery of care duties
To undertake patients' vital signs, blood pressure, pulse, pulse oximetry, height, weight, neurological assessment, ECG, respirations, urinalysis, blood glucose, pregnancy testing and elevate concerns in line with policy
Recognition of deteriorating patient and escalation process
Provide delegated clinical procedures such as insertion/removal of cannula, venepuncture, wound assessment and simple dressings
You must be able to work as part of a team, use your own initiative with effective interpersonal and communication skills, contributing fully as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. We will provide a supportive atmosphere, mentorship and clinical supervision on the unit and are committed to the professional development of all staff. Qualifications / Training
* GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths

* Relevant experience working in the NHS
