Job Title: Assistant Branch Manager Location: Golders Green (Fully Office-Based) Salary: £32,000 per annum Reporting To: Area Branch Manager Department: Subsidiary Banking Operations About the Role We are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Branch Manager to join our team at the Golders Green Branch. This fully office-based role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the branch, leading a team of Personal Bankers, and supporting the Area Branch Manager in delivering excellent customer service and operational efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual with a strong background in retail banking operations and staff management. Key Responsibilities Ensure operational excellence across all aspects of the branch. Supervise and support Personal Bankers and Cashiers in their daily duties. Take joint responsibility for customer service, staff attendance, and workplace discipline. Handle cash custody, locker keys, branch keys, and emergency protocols. Monitor and authorise cash transactions, ensuring AML and KYC compliance. Oversee security forms, stationery, loan files, demand drafts, and inward clearing transactions. Reconcile accounts including NatWest, LMB-SBI, and office accounts. Manage customer complaints and queries with professionalism. Participate in loan processing and appraisal activities, including drawing power calculations. Conduct KYC checks independently or with the Branch Manager. Ensure the general cleanliness, decorum, and orderliness of the branch. Assist in audit preparation, compliance reviews, and general administration. Act as a key interface between branch staff, the Area Branch Manager, and Head Office departments. What We're Looking For Strong understanding of retail banking operations, risk control, AML, and KYC regulations in the UK. Proven ability to manage and motivate a small team. Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and commitment to operational compliance. Customer-focused approach and ability to maintain branch standards. Willingness to take on additional responsibility when needed. Capable of working independently and taking initiative. Key Relationships Reports to the Area Branch Manager, with a dotted line to Head of Operations. Acts as the main link between Personal Bankers, Cashiers, and Head Office. Regular interaction with Operations, Compliance, Account Opening, and Audit teams.
