Our client, a leading consultancy in the highways sector, is currently seeking experienced Highway Inspectors to join the team on a long term contract basis. Key Responsibilities: Inspecting, assessing, and prioritising reactive maintenance works on the highway to ensure user safety Ensuring adherence to legislation, policy, codes of practice, procedures, and standards Maintaining accurate records and documentation Processing third-party insurance claims, including providing inspection and maintenance records, meeting claimants and solicitors on-site, and attending court for cross-examination Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders, including client officers, elected members, the general public, parish councils, neighbouring authorities, and emergency services Investigating stakeholder enquiries within prescribed timescales and advising on potential solutions to ensure highway safety Job Requirements: Completion of the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE)-approved Highway Safety Inspector training course Desirable but not essential: LANTRA 12 A/B qualification Experience in highway inspection and maintenance Strong understanding of highway safety and legislation Excellent record-keeping and documentation skills Ability to work effectively within a team and with various stakeholders Prepared to work across multiple depots in Somerset Benefits: Full-time contract for an initial period of 6 months, with the potential for extension All equipment and vehicles provided by the authority Opportunity to work with a leading consultancy in the highways sector Engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders and contributing to highway safety If you are a qualified Highway Inspector looking for a new contract opportunity, we would love to hear from you.
