Salary: £90,440 - £131,450

About this opportunity
As a Lead AI Researcher, you will drive AI research and development, guiding application to generate business value while upholding ethical and responsible implementation.
Role Responsibilities
* AI Research & Innovation: Lead end‑to‑end research developing novel AI, ML, Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions.
* Strategic Leadership: Set technical direction and roadmap, translating business challenges into clear AI vision.
* Project Execution: Own full lifecycle of research projects from problem formulation to experimentation, validation and publication.
* Collaboration: Lead cross‑functional teams, partner with product managers, data scientists and external academic/fintech partners.
* Thought Leadership & Communication: Present findings at conferences, publish papers, communicate complex concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Team Mentorship: Coach and mentor junior researchers, fostering continuous learning.
* Responsible AI Governance: Embed ethical principles, bias mitigation and regulatory compliance into AI workflows.
What You’ll Need
* Extensive experience deploying AI systems and ML models in production.
* Strong publication record in top‑tier conferences and journals.
* PhD or Master’s in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related STEM field.
* Deep knowledge of AI/ML concepts including Generative AI, Agentic AI and reinforcement learning.
* Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow, Scikit‑learn, Statsmodels, LangGraph, ADK).
* Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, Vertex AI).
* Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
* Strong communication and influencing skills, conveying business information from technical subject matter.
* Ethical awareness, understanding of AI ethics, risk mitigation and bias detection.
* Passion for continuous learning and adaptability to evolving AI landscape.
