The Role:
Hampshire Trading Standards Service is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic officer for its Environmental Safety Team which operates as part of the Proactive Interventions Team.
We are a regulatory body responsible for monitoring compliance with over 250 pieces of legislation to support a safe, fair and equitable trading environment and provide valuable support and trusted advice to residents and businesses in Hampshire.
If you are passionate about protecting consumers and the Hampshire economy and you share our vision of being a modern proactive business, then we would love to hear from you.
What you’ll do:
In this team you will interact with members of the public, other agencies and all types of industry ranging from manufacturers and importers, to retailers, service providers and other types of business.
We aim to promote legitimate business, which means assisting good ones (with legal advice) and tackling those who cause harm or detriment (with various powers at our disposal).
Whether it is sympathetically and proportionately interacting with members of the public and business owners, or dealing with a huge range of different tasks and situations, the life of a Trading Standards Officer is varied and rewarding with no two days ever being the same.
What we’re looking for:
We need officers with enquiring and methodical minds, who can use problem solving skills to identify practical solutions based on sound judgement and reasoning. Most importantly you will have a genuine desire to support and help our communities across the county.
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in law enforcement activity will certainly be advantageous, but enthusiasm and dynamism is equally valued.
The role offers a 37 hour flexible working week with the opportunity of hybrid working from home or our office based in Winchester. Crucially, we strongly believe in the training and development of our staff, positively encouraging opportunities wherever possible.
