Generative artificial intelligence (AI) describes algorithms that can be used to produce new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos. It is developing all the time and is now being used as a support mechanism for all kinds of content-based creations. Please note the use of AI is monitored and if applicants have used it then they are required to declare this.

The Breast Oncology service at UHBW delivers specialist non-surgical oncology care for patients with primary and secondary breast cancer at its sites at BHOC and Weston General Hospital. We provide a full range of oncological treatments, including systemic therapies, radiotherapy and supportive care. We are highly research active. The portfolio of systemic therapies for breast cancers is rapidly advancing, and the breast oncology AP role is integral to ensuring timely, safe, and patient-focused assessment and delivery of these treatments.

Application is open to qualified APs or professionals in a position to be supported through achieving MSc in Advanced Practice. A non-medical prescribing qualification will be essential to the role.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and driven to improve patient care and experience. Although oncology experience is advantageous, we recognise that advanced practice skills are transferable, and the candidate will be supported to develop the required competencies, enabling them to work autonomously in the planning and delivery of care for our patient group

We are committed to further expanding the non-medical members of the team to enhance our ability to effectively support and manage patients receiving active therapy, and to improve survivorship care and quality of life for those who have received curative treatment or have well-controlled disease.

Demonstrating highly developed specialist knowledge and skills, the post holder will be an integral member of the breast oncology team, providing clinical assessment and supporting the care and treatment of a diverse caseload of patients requiring specialist oncological care. They will also contribute clinical expertise to the development and enhancement of the service. They will be committed to the further education of themselves and others.

The post holder will work alongside medical, nursing, and allied health professional teams, maintaining strong communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. As such, they will be a highly visible and approachable role model who embodies the four pillars of advanced practice.
