Job summary
We are recruiting for a Medical Secretary to provide medical secretary provision to the Kerrier Adult Community Mental Health Team.
To be part of the Kerrier CMHT wider admin team and to ensure high levels of service are provided at all times, across the Locality, providing service support overall when required.
Main duties
* To provide a high quality secretarial service to the medical team.
* To maintain confidentiality at all times and sensitivity when dealing with contentious and complex information.
* Co-ordinate and organise action arising from correspondence and ensure prompt and efficient response, as required, by the Doctors. Co-ordination with other professionals, outside agencies, legal staff, Trust staff etc.
* Maintain waiting list to ensure clients are seen within key target times.

Qualifications & Experience
* RSA/OCR III Word-Processing or equivalent qualification or experience
* NVQ 3 Business Administration or equivalent knowledge or experience
* RSA/OCR II Audio-Typing or equivalent qualification or experience
* Computer literate with experience of spreadsheets and databases
* Previous experience of working in an office environment
Desirable
* Previous experience working as a secretary in the NHS
Skills and Aptitude
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure whilst remaining calm
* Ability to manage own workload and work independently
* Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative
Knowledge and Abilities
* Previous experience of working in an administration setting
Desirable Knowledge
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Knowledge of the Trust\'s electronic information systems
