Company Overview
Are you passionate about food, sustainability, and craftsmanship? Are you interested in a career where tradition and innovation go hand in hand? Our award-winning organic artisan creamery is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic individual to join our growing team.
Nettlebed Creamery is based in South Oxfordshire and has been producing organic cheese for over a decade. We believe in the power of simple ingredients, the importance of animal welfare and the connection between land, people and taste.
The Role
As Assistant Cheesemaker, you will be involved in every stage of the cheesemaking process from receiving fresh milk each morning to ageing and caring for cheeses in our maturing rooms. You'll learn the subtleties of curd cutting, moulding, pressing, brining and affinage (the art of ripening cheese). You'll also gain experience in quality control, hygiene and record keeping, as well as customer engagement at markets and events.
Main Responsibilities
· Assist in the daily production of a variety of cheeses under the direction of our Head Cheesemaker.
· Monitor and maintain hygiene conditions throughout the Creamery.
· Help care for maturing cheeses including washing, turning and affinage
· Participate in packaging and preparing orders for delivery and sale.
· Engage with customers through tastings and tours of the Creamery.

What we are looking for
· No previous experience required—just curiosity, positivity and a willingness to learn.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
· Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a small, friendly team.
· Physical stamina: cheesemaking is physically demanding and involves standing, lifting, and working in variable temperatures.
· Flexibility and reliability. Early starts are standard and occasional weekend work is sometimes required.
· Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills.
· A respect for animal welfare and interest in sustainable farming is a plus.
What we offer
· Full time role but we will also consider someone who want to work 4 days a week.
· Comprehensive hands-on training in all aspects of artisan cheesemaking.
· Opportunities to attend cheese festivals, customer events and industry workshops.
· Friendly, supportive, down-to-earth team environment.
