Job Overview

Havering CAMHS is seeking a Psychological Professions Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team delivering assessment and evidence‑based interventions to children, young people and families presenting with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. This role forms part of our ongoing CAMHS Transformation Programme and offers the opportunity to contribute to a modern, pathway‑based service focused on delivering the right intervention at the right time. The successful applicant will provide formulation‑driven interventions in line with their professional training and competence whilst working flexibly across CAMHS pathways according to clinical need and service demand. The post holder will contribute to core CAMHS functions including assessment, referral screening, duty clinician work, MDT discussions and therapeutic intervention.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Deliver structured, time‑limited psychological therapy interventions (typically 6–12 sessions) for children and young people.
  • Manage a defined caseload, maintaining clear therapeutic goals, regular review points, planned endings.
  • Undertake clinical assessment and risk management in line with CAMHS protocols.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions, contributing to formulation‑driven care and appropriate allocation of cases.
  • Contribute to timely patient flow, including discharge planning and reducing waiting times.
  • Perform core CAMHS duties such as routine assessments, duty clinician rota, screening and triage of referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies including education, social care and primary care.
  • Contribute to service development, audit and quality improvement activity.

The post offers a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum £4,870, maximum £6,137 per annum pro‑rated for part time).
