Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support nuclear decommissioning projects. The role will involve delivering mechanical engineering solutions across a variety of project phases, with a strong emphasis on design, approvals, and technical documentation. You will play a key role in developing and reviewing designs for special purpose machinery, fabrication, and wider mechanical engineering systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and contribute to the development of mechanical design solutions in line with project requirements and industry standards.
* Prepare, check, and approve technical drawings, calculations, and supporting documentation.
* Provide engineering input throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning and handover.
* Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure design integration and compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality requirements.
* Support the production and review of design justifications, technical reports, and approval submissions.
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
* Proven experience in the nuclear sector, with a strong understanding of industry standards and regulations.
* Demonstrable background in mechanical design, fabrication, and/or special purpose machinery.
* Strong ability to produce and review high-quality technical documentation.
* Working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent professional recognition.
* Previous experience in decommissioning projects.
* Evidence of success in a similar senior engineering role.
