Job Summary
We are excited to offer Fixed Term Band 6 positions, to commence asap. The posts are fixed term to meet the needs of the service and location will be determined at recruitment (VCC Cardiff or V@NHRU Abergavenny).
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 1x 6 months and 2x 12 months to cover maternity leave, from start date. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
Location: Velindre Cancer Services, Velindre Road, Cardiff.
Salary: £39,263 to £47,280 per annum (pro rata where applicable). Contract: Fixed term. Duration: 12 months. Working pattern: Full-time, Part-time, Flexible working.

Responsibilities
* Work in all areas of the radiotherapy department (treatment units and pre-treatment area) carrying out accurate pre-treatment and treatment techniques.
* Help organise the workload in the department and take responsibility for training and supervising more junior radiographers and students.
* Deputise as team leader in the absence of the Band 7 radiographer, as required.
* Be part of a large multi-disciplinary team and be involved in the total care of patients undergoing radiotherapy.
* Work flexibly according to the demands of the service, including weekends and across more than one site.
* Participate in out-of-hours and on-call work as required.
* Welsh language ability is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome to apply.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma of Radiography (DCR(T)) or Postgraduate Diploma in Radiotherapy; Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC); evidence of CPD; knowledge of radiotherapy principles and regulations; knowledge of current oncology issues.
Desirable
* Evidence of further study to Masters level; experience in quality assurance, audit, and student assessment.
Skills and Attributes
* Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills; IT proficiency; ability to work collaboratively; reliability and punctuality; adaptability and initiative; team working and flexible to service needs.
* Desirable: ability to speak Welsh to Level 1; supervisory and mentoring skills for radiographers and students.
