Professional Practice
The RN practices within the legal and ethical framework of the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA standards, and the YNHHS Practice Model, demonstrating leadership, collaboration, and effective communication to ensure quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
1. Standards of Practice: Utilize nursing process components—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, evaluation—to deliver competent care.
2. Standards of Professional Performance: Engage in ethical practice, cultural competence, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, ongoing education, evidence-based practice, resource utilization, and environmental safety.
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
Experience: Minimum one year of acute care RN experience; clinical advancement opportunities available.
Licensure: Valid Connecticut RN license; specialty certification encouraged.
Physical Demands
Prolonged standing, walking, and physical activity including lifting patients up to 300 pounds. Must be able to handle exposure to infectious diseases and stressful situations.
Additional Information
Position covered by the Connecticut Healthcare Associates collective bargaining agreement. Minimum one year of acute care RN experience required.
