Behaviour Support Worker

Location: Rochdale, Greater Manchester
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full‑Time & Part‑Time Opportunities Available
Salary: £15+ per hour (dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 4:00pm

We are partnering with a large and well‑established college in Rochdale that delivers a broad range of academic and vocational courses to students aged 16+. The college is committed to equipping learners with the skills, confidence, and qualifications they need to achieve successful futures. This is a mainstream college environment, with students learning both in the classroom and through external placements. As such, we are seeking flexible and adaptable staff who are comfortable working across different sites. The college also has a well‑developed SEN inclusion unit, supporting learners with complex learning difficulties to access tailored programmes suited to their needs.

A significant number of students require additional support due to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. This role focuses on providing strong pastoral care, helping students remain engaged, focused, and consistent with attendance.

Responsibilities

* Provide targeted support to learners with behavioural or additional learning needs
* Work collaboratively with tutors, employers, therapists, and families to deliver personalised interventions
* Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets
* Use specialist strategies to help learners access the curriculum, build independence, and develop life skills
* Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
* Share best practice strategies to enhance SEND support across the setting

Candidate Profile

* Professional experience supporting students with SEND, ideally within an educational setting
* Knowledge of autism, sensory needs, behaviour support, and related learning differences
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach
* Committed to helping every learner thrive and achieve their potential

Requirements to Apply

* Right to work in the UK
* Enhanced child barred list DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Two professional references

If you are passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and succeed in further education, we would welcome your application.
