Job Summary: We are looking for a patient, committed, and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Kingston upon Thames. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a rewarding and varied role. You will be working alongside teachers and SENCOs to support pupils with a range of additional needs, such as autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Key Responsibilities: * Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom. * Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour plans, and learning targets. * Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where all pupils can thrive. * Support children with their learning, emotional regulation, and social interaction. * Help manage behaviour calmly and positively, following school policies. * Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure tailored support. * Supervise pupils during unstructured times (e.g. lunch, break) if required. * Maintain safeguarding, confidentiality, and a high standard of care. Person Specification: Essential: * Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN in school, care, or community settings. * A calm, supportive, and proactive approach. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Committed to the wellbeing and progress of every child. * Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of individual pupils. Desirable: * Experience working with children with ASC, SEMH, ADHD, or speech and language needs. * Understanding of communication tools such as PECs or Makaton. * Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). * A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
