Role Overview:
We are seeking a proactive Commercial Assistant / Trainee to support the commercial team in cost control, procurement, financial reporting, and estimation processes. This role offers strong development opportunities, with on-the-job training to progress into a full commercial/surveyor position.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with budget estimates, tender submissions, valuations, and cost monitoring.
* Support procurement: sourcing materials, negotiating prices, and placing orders to ensure value for money and timely delivery.
* Monitor project costs and maintain financial records, including cash flow forecasts and reports.
* Work closely with project teams to manage contracts, assess risks, and ensure client payments.
* Participate in site visits to review progress and identify variations.
* Assist with monthly financial reviews, audits, and final account settlements.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
* Support general administrative duties within the commercial department.
Requirements:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or relevant discipline preferred, but training will be provided for motivated candidates.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Good communication, negotiation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
* Proactive approach with ability to work independently and in a team.
* Willingness to learn and adapt to project needs.
* Driving licence preferred for site visits.
